Failure of waste disposal
Waste disposal includes all the processes involved in collecting, treating and disposing of waste.
Risks and causes
What can you do?
Make sure you always sort your waste properly. Recycling and reusing waste are important to ensure the smooth running of waste management.
Is there a failure? Follow the information channels of your municipality for up-to-date information, for example on household waste collection.
Impact and probability
The figures relating to probability and impact describe a significant failure in waste management. The BNRA theoretically describes such a scenario as follows:
- Due to a failure, some collection systems are out of service for a limited period.
- Only a small number of local municipalities are affected.
How should you interpret these results?
Within the BNRA, experts assessed three scenarios for each risk: considerable, major or extreme. On each page, you will find the results of the scenario with the highest score based on the combination of likelihood and impact. This does not mean that this scenario will occur or is the most likely. Read more here about how to correctly interpret the results.
