For animals
In an emergency, you want your pets to be safe. Be sure to include them in your plan.
Pets
- An emergency kit. Include enough supplies for your pets in your emergency kit.
- A place to stay. Think about where you can go if you can no longer stay at home or in your neighbourhood (e.g. with friends or acquaintances). Ask if there is room for your pet.
- Identification Make sure your pet can be identified (preferably by microchip). Keep your name and address up to date in your online registration (CatID, DogID, etc.).
- Vaccination It is important that your pet is vaccinated. Put your vaccination record (or a copy of it) in your emergency kit.
- Transport. Prepare a plan for safely transporting your pet (carrier, bag, etc.) to a safe location. Make sure it is used to its carrier, for example.
- Contact persons. Make a note of your vet's telephone number in your list of important numbers.
Large animals
Do you own large animals such as horses or cattle? Always follow the warnings of the authorities. In certain emergency situations, additional instructions are issued (e.g. prohibition on grazing cows after a radiological accident). Follow these guidelines.
